Rev. Dennis Schmidt

Pastor Dennis Schmidt attended St. Paul’s College in Concordia, MO for two years before he transferred to Concordia Sr. College in Ft. Wayne.  He graduated with a double major in US and European History and a minor in Old Testament Theology.

After completing his seminary education at Christ Seminary, Seminex, Pastor Dennis accepted a call to Grace Lutheran Church in Enterprise, Oregon.  He served that parish for 10 years.  During this time, he also served St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Enterprise.

Then, in 1989, Pastor Dennis accepted a call to serve First Lutheran Church in Baker City, OR.  He served this parish for 5 years.

In the Fall of 1993, Pastor Dennis received a call to Messiah Lutheran Church in Panama City, FL.  He served the congregation of Messiah for 17 years.  In 2009, he returned to Oregon.  He received a specialized call to Bethesda Lutheran Church in Eugene, OR to serve for one year as transitional Pastor. In 2010 he returned to Florida to serve Hope Lutheran Church in Daytona Beach, FL.  This was another specialized call for yet another transitional ministry for a struggling congregation.  He served Hope Lutheran for 5 years.  In 2016 Pastor Dennis accepted his present call to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Clermont, FL.

During his ministry, Pastor Dennis has also become a nationally certified Paramedic and he worked for 17 years as a helicopter medevac for the National Forest Service on forest fires in the Northwest United States.  He was also director of Ambulance services in Enterprise, Oregon.
