Rev. Dr. Joann Heaney-Hunter

 

Rev. Dr. Joann Heaney-Hunter is the Pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Church in Clermont, Florida.  Her previous call was at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Hicksville, New York.

Pr. Joann has served as a full-time member of the theology faculty at St. John’s University in New York since 1987. She holds a Ph.D. in theology from Fordham University and an M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University. She is a National Certified Counselor, a Psychotherapist in the Association of Clinical Pastoral Educators, and a mental health counselor, currently licensed in New York State. In addition, she has served as a spiritual director since 2004.

She has co-authored two books on marriage preparation and a book on the theology of Christian marriage.  She has authored over 30 scholarly and pastoral articles, and given over 200 scholarly and pastoral presentations, both nationally and internationally. She also has presented many adult bible and church history courses in local church communities in New York.

Pastor Joann has been married to Dr. Greg Hunter for 47 years.  She has two terrific daughters, Beth and Kate, two wonderful sons-in-law, Steve and John, and four beautiful grandchildren, Stephen, Gregory, Samuel, and Isabelle.

She loves serving in pastoral ministry and looks forward to many years at Shepherd of the Hills!
