Today, we’re talking about some serious topics, including suicide and self-harm.
Today we are sharing five prompts to inspire your personal spiritual time and help you set your intentions for the week ahead. Take a moment to reflect on the following and journal your thoughts.
1. Scripture:
“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:17-18).
2. Journal prompt:
If you have been personally affected by losing someone to suicide, take a moment to write down two or three ways you have, or hope, to process that grief. If you have not been personally affected by losing someone to suicide, take a moment to offer a prayer or moment of silence for those who have been affected.
3. Prayer ventures:
“National Suicide Prevention Month: Pray for those who feel lonely, depressed and hopeless, that they will find compassion and spiritual renewal in times of darkness and suffering. Ask the Spirit how we might best respond to our neighbors and siblings in Christ who are struggling” (Sept. 3, 2024).
4. Affirmation:
The Lord is with me; I am not alone. When I feel brokenhearted or crushed in spirit, support is available to me. When I reach out for help, I am making a loving and supportive decision for myself.
